Grew up online and now designing for millions.

I grew up in Tasikmalaya, a small town in West Java, Indonesia. Most of what I learned about design, and most of what I learned about the world beyond it, came through a screen. That habit of watching from a distance and then leaning in to understand never really left.

I've always noticed when something is well-made. A tidy interface, a thoughtful menu, or furniture that functions exactly as it should. I'm drawn to how things are put together and why they work; I naturally want everything around me to be organized and clear. That instinct finally got a name when I took a Human-Computer Interaction course during my computer science degree. I started picking up briefs as a freelance UX designer on the side, transitioned into full-time roles, and never really stopped.

Today I work as a Design Manager at ByteDance, leading design across Tokopedia and TikTok Shop in Southeast Asia. Before that, I spent six years at Tokopedia, helping build the platform systems that now drive both products' commerce experiences. Eight years into my career, the work has shifted from pushing pixels to building the teams that push them. I think of my role as closer to a conductor than a soloist. The best work I've done has come from teams I've built carefully, given trust, and then gotten out of the way of.

The kind of design I'm drawn to is the quiet kind. Systems that become foundations. Decisions that compound over time. Teams that outgrow their manager. Ultimately, most of the craft is in the parts no one notices.

Outside of work, I take sleep very seriously. Sometimes I bike just to be outdoors and explore new corners of the city. I support Liverpool F.C. and have been reading the One Piece manga for longer than I'd like to admit. I play RDR2 and FIFA when I have an evening to myself. I photograph mostly with my phone, though sometimes on a Fujifilm when I want to slow down. I also have a soft spot for '90s JDM cars, 2000s Porsches, and whatever EV companies are building these days.
